How do I match a variety of different room furniture?
I've been looking through magazines from home and often have room of rooms with couches and chairs that do not really match, but that look good together. How can I get a designer look without end something not just look like a bunch of cheap hand-me-downs? I have to do this with used furniture, so what should I be looking for? I go for comfortable and casual with a little class.
The key to creating a look that coordinates instead of parties is taken into account the principles and elements of good design. The principles of balance that proportion, rhythm, emphasis, and unity is achieved through elements of line, color, shape, space, texture, value, and form. Check through a shelter (house / decor) magazines. Boards of appeal to you? Study of different characteristics. Compare several rooms that attract you each other. What similarities do you see? These things should be done to look for when you go to put into his room.
