Furniture Design
Born in Denmark in 1914, Borge Mogensen became qualified as a carpenter at the age of 20. He, like many of the other furniture designers from Denmark, studied at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts furniture and then the School of the Academy of Fine Arts of 1938 to 1942. At the time the Professor Kaare Klint furniture school, which was own influence on Danish furniture is still visible today. Borge Mogensen was evaluated by Kaare Klint regarded as an extraordinary talent and abilities. Its proximity to Kaare Klint led to a collaboration between the two men who were allowed to open Borge Mogensen at his own design studio in 1950.
Within five Years and work to create his own design studio, Borge Mogensen was able to design furniture for well-known manufacturers. Karl Andersson & Soner, P. & Lauritzen Sun, Fredericia Furniture, and all manufactured designs that came out of the spirit of Borge Mogensen. The Fredericia contract proved to be the fruitful partnership of his career and was allowed to He explore every aspect of his own extensive technical skills. Andreas Graversen was the owner of Fredericia, at the time, and he was able to keep with Borge Mogensen Thoroughness and quality in his designs.
Borge Mogensen died in 1972, and he is still in Denmark as "Grand Old Man". His Experience as a carpenter to help him in his designs, and for over twenty years he was the ideas of previous generations had about furniture and take them into reality. He respected the materials he worked with, and functional tradition in creating the furniture was aware of him very well, as the elements together. He used the old design and built his furniture on the basis of these drafts and the training and subsequent experience he gained over the years to improve it, and it restored to its former glory.
Some of these old designs, which came on improved Borge Mogensen from his instructor's love Shaker furniture that is designed and developed in the United States. There is speculation among the design community today that have been the many chairs Borge Mogensen on the basis of Shaker design prototypes. For example, Borge Mogensen, "J39" chair had of wood, four-legged, single slat back similar in structure to the 'low ladder-back chairs of the Shakers. His "trestle" that the chairs will be voted as "redefined Shaker classic '. Borge Mogensen worked with the Danish Cooperative Wholesale Society at the time, helping them to develop attractive and yet simple design furniture that was good for everyday use. What Borge Mogensen draft was adopted as well as his ability to make a variety of different Incorporate design styles in his furniture to keep them free of modernist influence and attract people from all walks of life.
Borge Mogensen not only design chairs and tables. He was also fascinated with the storage problems in the houses and dwellings of the time. He took that fascination, and worked on a storage system, keep a variety of household items in various sizes and shapes in a functional piece of furniture would. The shelving system "Oresund" was one of standing in connection Borge Mogensen storage products, and it was developed specifically to families with problems in the storage.
